J. F. Mellor.-^-An improved threshing bar for
threshing and stripping machines, which will thresh
in damp as well as ordinary weather, consisting of a
piece of sheet metal with a number of projections of
a regulated shape produced by a chisel or punch,
which projections take the place of the buttons, studs,
or rivets which arc now in use.
E. Homsby & Sons, limited.—lmprovement? ia
reaping or harvesting machines, consisting of means
by nirich the portion of the crop which falls on the
platform of the machine is separated from standing
crop by a rotary' <h"\ider in form of flat board or
plank so that it is thin one way and wide the oppo
site, which has a decidedly intermittent action on
the crop. When the breadth of board is vertical
it produces but little separation, but as the
board tans to horizontal position opens out sud
denly a wide interval, making a cleaner and belter
separation than by conical divider.
H. Bohls.—lmprovements in cigarette machine?,
consisting of automatic novel tobacco dressing ma
chine, designed to distribute tobacco upon endless
travelling feed belt iv an even and uniform manner,
and certain devices to condense and bring the tobacco
to shape in continuous strip of even thickness before
cntoiug the fitter efaafmig niecbanitfm, which is theu
delivered as a continuous cigarette, and then, is car
ried on to a cutting device before final delivery.
L. A. Oroth, —Improved process ajtd apparatus for
tanning Hides and skins, which consists of apparatus
for tanning bides aud nkins by electricity, but said
improvements are also applicable to apparatus where
electricity is not used. The method of |>rooe=3 of
tanning is by keeping the hides or skins in motion in
a stationary' tank containing tlie tanning liquor, the
fluid is held in motion, and a cum-tit of electricity
passed through Che eanie.
