DOOMED TO DIE.
TWO YOUNG MEN.
SPIRITUAL ADVISER.
The Rev. Mr CaUlccott, Wcsleynn min
ister. of Coburg, late yesterday afternoon
visited the condemned young men, Glnn-
ficld and Ilarvey. In the gaol, and re-
mained with them for some time.
The condemned men passed a goad
night, and to-day appeared to be well
in hcullh.
CABINET CONSIDERATION.
The Cabinet will hold a special meeting
to consider the cases of the condemned
young men. Glanfietd and Harvey, shortly
after the receipt of lite notes and report
of the Judge who presided at the trial (Mr
Justice A' Beckett.
So far as can be Judged at present,

PETITION FOR MERCY.
Mr A. D. J. Daly, who con
ducted tho defence of tho" pri

that n petition to tlie Execu
tive is being prepared on behalf of
bis client. Tills will set out, in pal
liation of the nwfut offenco for
which he was convicted. Iris age
and the recommendation of the jury,
the hard and rough life ho has led,
and more particularly a natural
weakness of mind, together with
olhcr circumstances which, it is said,
could not lo brought ''forward on Iris-
behalf at the trial.
A letter has been received by Mr
Daly from Harvey's father, acknow
ledging very gratefully the efforts
put forward by tho prisoner's coun
sel. Mr Paul, rt ltd (lie instructing so
licitor. "In my time of great trou
ble and sorrow," tho writer says. "I
am comforted by the knowledge that
with yours and Mr Paul's ublo as
sistance, 1 did all that 1 could for
