I SHARPLEY TELLS OF —
Vtedical Leave To
Attend Red School
So that Mr D. Thomson, secretary of the Build
ing Trades Federation, could attend a three-
months' Communist school in Sydney last Septem
ber, a certificate for rest, on health arounds. was
sought from Dr Ian Macdonald of North Fitzroy, a
Communist.
This was told In evidence

Sharpley: No, I got the cer
tificate for him. I rang Dr.
Macdonald and told him we
wanted it. Whefl I said "we."
he knew I was speaking on
behalf of the leadership of the
Party,
Mr Justice Lowe: Tell us
what you said.
Sharpley: I said we wanted
a certificate for three months
for til-health for Thomson.
Would he be able to arrange
It? He said "yes."
