WOMAN ESCAPES FROM
BRISBANE GAOL
BRISBANE, Monday. " — Another
gaol-breaking has been reported from
Brisbane gaol, this time by . a
woman; but her liberty .was short-.
lived, as she was captured the same
day.
On Saturday Madge Bradley was
sentenced to 14 days for having used
filthy language at a religious service
on Good Friday, where, she stated,
she went to reform. She was taken
to gaol, and as she was well known
to the establishment, and regarded
as trusty, she was given housework
in the quarters of Mrs Russow, the
wife of the superintendent.
It is alleged that yesterday Bradley
dressed herself in Mrs Russows
clothes, and with head down walked
through the gaol gate. It was iron
ical that the warder who was dis
missed from service following on the
escape of Richard Thompson a few
months ago saw Bradley in a city
hotel. Me recognised her, and tele-
Phoned the police. Bradley put up 'a
light for her liberty, but was over-
powored nnd taken buck to gaol. .
