NEWPORT SOCIETY
. Mr T. Lidlan presided at th'e third
annual meeting, of tho Newport Work
shops Terminating Benefit Society on
October 27. At the beginning of the :
war thero were 600 members, but en-
listments and other causes had reduced
the roll of 453; of these 143 had drawn
sick pay amounting to £341, eight
members having' received the full
amount allowed by the society for the
12 months, namely, £12. The contri
butions for the year at 1/ per pay:
amounted to noarly £000. The secre
tary stated that fully paid up members
would receive a bonus of 9/6 each;
those that had left pro . rata.
