RECHABITE ORDER READY
TO INVEST IN WAR LOANS
officers elected
BENDIGO, Wednesday.
At tne annual conference of the In
dependent Order of Rechabltes held in
Bendlgo today Bro. . A. E. M'Micken
considered that the order "should have
Invested portion of its surplus funds in
.tne war fund.
Bro. A. Stewart, a trustee, said that
the order had to keep back portion of
the availablo surplus for reinsurance
against -war risks, but arrangements
would be made to invest in future war
loans.
. The following officers were elected: —
District chief ruler, Bro. D. Smith,
M.L-A. (Bendigo); district deputy chief
ruler, Bro. A. E). MIMicken (Prahran);
district treasurer, Bro. W. Wilson; dis
trict Junior superintendent", Bro. J. J.
Johnson; district directors, Bros. S.
Maugor, W. R. Roberts, John Tully, N.
(Rudduck, and E. R. Stafford. Bro. J.
G. Membrey did not seek re-election.
By a large majority, Geelong was
selected as the meeting place of the
1917 conference.
