The Director of Agriculture (Mr. V.
E. Ward) left Hobart by tho mail train
last night to attend the National Show
at Launceston. Ho will return on Fri-
day.
The Mayor (Alderman J. J. WignalO.
at the meeting of the City Council last
evening, welcomed Alderman L. H.
Saunders on his first taking his seat ia
the Council table. He had known Al-
derman Saunders for many years, h,j
said, and ho was sure ho would be a
decided acquisition to the Council. Al-
derman Saunders briefly responded.

elected to the vacancy on the Hobart
Fire Brigade Board, caused by the le-
al lation from the Council of Mr. C JJ.

A pleasant reunion took place on Sun -
day evening at the homo of Mr. unj
Mrs. T. A. Gepp, Anglesea Street, who
Invited a number of friends of Mr. Alf.
G. Richardson to extend to him a wel-
come on his return to Hobart after an
absence pf five years, to take up the
position of manager of the Royal Ex-
change Insurance Co. Among those
present were:-Th.o Hon. J. C. MePheo,
M.H.A., Messrs. John Soundy, M.H.A.,
E. A. Reid, R. Wallace, H. H. Cummins,
T. Stump, D. C. McLaren, R. J. Mor-
ris, Lindsay Neal, G. W. R. Ife, and A.
W. Courtney-Pratt.
Mr. Weller Arnold, who has been
somewhat seriously indisposed since
Thursday last, was slightly improved in
health yesterday. At last night's meet-
ing of the Tasmanian National Foot-
ball League, tho Chairman (Mr. P. H.
Mitchell) referred in regretful terms to
the serious illness of the Lefroy Club
delegate (Mr. Weller Arnold), and mov-
ed that a letter bo sent to .Mr. Arnold
conteylng tho sympathy of the League
and expressing the hope that ho would
make a speedy lecovery. The motion
was carried.
Mr. Terence Kenrlc Crisp, a mcmber
of a well-known Tasmanian legal fam-
ily, being a son of Mr. T. J. Crisp, late
of Burnie, and a cousin of Mr. Justice
Crisp, was yesterday admitted as a bar-
rister and solicitor of the Supremo Court
of Victoria by the Full Court of Vic-
toria, on the motion of Mr. Dixon, K.C.,
and Mr. Kibble. Mr. Crisp is a barris-
ter of the Supremo Court of Tasmania.
Mr. Hillary Boucaut died In Adelaide
yesterday at the ago of 87 years. He
was a colonist of 60 years. Mr. Bou-
caut was a lawyer by profession, and
practised chiefly in the northern wheat
farming areas of South Australia. Ho
was a brother of the late Sir Jamea
Boucaut, at one time a leading politi-
cian of South Australia, and after-
wards a distinguished member of the
Supreme Court Bench.
At the meeting of the Kingborough
Council yesterday, Councillor J. G.
Charlton moved a. vote of condolence
with the relatives of the late Mr. W. J.
Bradley, of Oyster Covo, who, he said,
had been an employee of the council for
many years, and was a most loyal and
efficient servant. The Warden (Coun-
cillor B. J. Pearsall), Councillors W. H.'
Cripps, and Smith also made eulogistic
references to the deceased's sterling
qualities, and the motion was carried ti
silence.
