VOYAGE OF EMIGRANTS HELD UP.
V "LONDON,1 May 27.
The Canadian-Pacific Co.'s liner Metn
gama, which was carrying 1,000 emi-
grants, who only, an hour previously had
waved good-"bye to the people on the
Glasgow quay, collided in the Rivei
Clyde with the Baron Vernon, whose
port bow was stove in. The emigrants,
who were mostly below unpacking their
luggage, wert thrown acruss their cabins
and men, women, and children rushed to
the decks, where they were reassured.
The Metagama, with damaged bows,
swung round and returned to Glasgow,
where some of the emigrants are pro-
ceeding by the Montrose. It is ex-
pected that repairs will be completed to
enable the Metagama to sail on Tuesday.
