RED HILL LEAD
Peninsula Matches
T>ED HILL have advanced further on
the Southern Peninsula premiership
list, and at present look likely to be hard
to defeat for the pennant. Morning-
ton A, Main Ridge, Rosebud, Dromana
and Rye are winning their matches well
and no doubt will offer stout Opposi
tion.
Main Ridge scored a convincing win
over Sorrento, defeating them by 50
runs. Sorrento were all out for 48. the
best batsman being J. Skelton with 22.
Geo. Fox with 6/11 bowled excellent
ly. Wilson was next best with 2,11.
Main Ridge's innings yielded 98 runs,
chief run-getters being W. Wilson, re
tired, 25, R. Ditterich 16 and G. Fox
15. Sorrento's bowling was good, in
deed. Montgomery securing the best
average, 5 29. Next best were King,
1/11 and L. Hill, 1/14.
Dromana, who are doing well in their
first season in the competition, scored
a well deserved win over Flinders. Dro
mana compiled 105, top scores being R.
Birch and V. Greer 20 each, and G.
Osborne 19, H. Cairns, of Flinders, took
the good figures of 6/18.
Flinders' innings yielded 53 runs, B.
Cairns hitting up 22. W. Guy. the Dro
mana footballer, bowled well, securing
4 28. Humphries took 3/20 and Greer
2 3.
Red Hill, 97, defeated Portsea. 53. G.
Humphreys (Red Hill/ took seven
wickets.
Mornington A visited Rosebud and won
after an even game by 37 runs. The
winners scored 129, of which C. Stewart.
32 not out, G. Keys 23, A. Ely 22 and
R. Martin 21 were the main contribu
tors. Stewart is batting most consistent
ly.
Gordon Jennings (one of the best all-
rounders in Southern cricket) was in his
best form, finishing up with 5,62. B.

Rosebud were dismissed for 92 runs,
Gordon Jennings and L. Godfrey being
lop-scorers with 22 each. The Morn
ington bowling was decidedly good, four
players obtaining wickets. G. Keyes
headed the list with 3/112, then comeR.

B in a close contest at Mornington by
about 10 runs.
