BADLY PACKED WOOL
Referring to complaints from overseas
buyers in regard to Australian wool sent
abroad, the manager of a prominent
Melbourne company said last week such
criticism was liable to exaggeration, log
reports of bad packing suggested wide
spread faults, but actually the industry
i was remarkably free from harmful prac-
j tices
i Oniv a very small proportion of the
I dip could be faulted, but the selling
j brokers viewed the matter seriously. It
i was intended to check the evil before
! further harm was done,
i The opinion was expressed that travel
ling cash buyers, operating on stations
and farms were the principal offenders.
Inefficient classing on stations also con
tributed to the trouble, and in other cases
owners of small flocks who had objected
to the expense of careful sorting, had
included inferior fleece.
