During a thunderstorm a Jersey
bull and two cows belonging to A.
Broomfield, of Glengarry, were killed
by lightning. They had sheltered un-
der a tree, which was struck. The
loss is estimated at £75. Pratt Bros.,
of Glengarry, also lost a valuable
beast in the same manner.
While playing at the bathing sheds

Percy Terry, 10, slipped into deep
water and sank, llay Dorrington, 16,

Thomas Davis, 66, of Wilson street,
Cheltenham, was riding a bicycle in
Point Nepean-road, Highett, on De
cember 20, when he came into colli
sion wilh a motor-lorry. He died in
Alfred Hospital.
Convicted of the manslaughter of His
sister-in-law, Joseph Livingstone, 66
years, of Wattle avenue, Frankston,
was sentenced by Mr Justice Mann in
the Criminal Court to imprisonment for
six years.

Late on December 18 a motor lorry I
laden with wheat crashed into a tree j
on the Deniliquin road about a mile
from Toeumwal, owing to the steering
gear working loose. The driver, Mr
Moloney, suffered concussion. Mr P,
Moore, who was also on the lorry, was
thrown some distance by the impact,
and is suffering from severe internal
injuries.

street, South Melbourne, was riding
) a pedal bicycle along Bay street. Port
Melbourne, at 7.15 a.m., on
Saturday, when he collided
with Reginald Bishop, 35, ot
Napier street, South Melbourne,
Botb men were taken to the Mel

broken leg and Bishop with concus
sion and abrasions of the face.
