W. C;H.Wood.
The death of Chat-lea Henry Wood,
one of tee oldest residents of the
Inverai-Wnrra district occurred on
Marsh 1st Inst. Ho was 68 years of
age, and a native of Yarram, Victoria.
He was a son of tee late Mr. and
Mis. George Wood, of Yorkshire,
England, and Yarram, Victoria.
Mr. Wood took up land .in the
Inverai-Warra area in" 1906 and re
sided there for many years 'until he
disposed of his proporty. to Mr. T.
W. Dalzell. Mr. Wood introduced
Rhodes grass into tee district, being
the first to go in for that -now val
uable crop. He was a member of
the Wamho Shire Council for a num
ber of years. Mr. Wood for some
time conducted a business as - an
auctioneer at Warm and Jandowae.
After -selling this business he went
to West Wyalong in New South
Wales where he again commenced
Business. He also extended his in
terest to Griffith in New South Wales.
After retiring from business activ-
ities Mr. Wood purchased an orcnaro
in the irrigation area at Nyah, where
he lived until his death. .
Mr. Wood is survived by his
widow, one son, Mervyn, and one
daughtor, Eileen, all of "Koraleigh,'
Nyah. Messrs. ' Francis Wood
(Warra), George Wood, "Koraleigh,
Nyah, N.S.W., and Walter N. Wood,
Yarram, Victoria, are brothers, and
Misses A, L. Wood and B. M. Wqod,
