The tmemploTment relief fund now
totals £27,293.
The question of the right to wort "with
particular reference to the Common
wealth Government's decision to give pre
ference to unionists, -was the subject of a
meeting held to-night under the auspices
of the Liberal Workers' Institute. Mr.
A. A. Myers presided over a large au
dience. The following motions were car
ried:—"That this meeting expresses
ita emphatic protest at the action
of the Federal Labor Government
in enforcing preference to Trades
Hall unionists, especially in connection
with war preparation work, viewing
such action as being anti-Australian, un
just, and an insult to the woriiing men
and woman of Australia. That a special
committee of investigation, be appointed to
investigate and' report on the Aus
tralian non-unionist question, its causes
and effects, and possible remedies, such
investigation to be conducted strictly on a
nonparty political basis."'
The following committee of investiga
tion was appointed:—Messrs. A. A. Myers,
W. Kennedy Smith, M.L.A., H. llolf,
W. S. Turnbull, J. T. Packer, H. Malloeh,
and Is. Xicholls.
