Pingelly-Wandering Local
Repatriation Committee.
A meeting of the above Com
mittee was held in the Mechanics
Institute, Pingelly, on November
11th, 1919, at 11 a.m., when there
were present— Mr Johnson, (chair-'
man), Messrs Fairhead, Parker
and Vinicombe.
The minutes , of the previous
meeting were read and confirmed.
Six applications for sustenance
were received. The question of
sustenance generally was discussed
at some length, more particularly
as it affected the men awaiting land
under the Soldiers' Land Settle
ment Scheme, who were offered
positions, but who stated that they
could not accept owing to the fact
that they might receive advice at
any time that their application had
been approved. . '
Five letters from the Soldiers'
Land Settlement Board were re
ceived any! dealt with. ..
The position with regard to 'the
mail contract Was discussed, par
ticularly the fact that tenders had
now been called for. the thid time.
The Secretrry was directed to write
to the Department and request that
returned soldiers tendering be
given a " square deal," and ask the
reason as to why finality had not
yet been reached.
A large number of matters in
connection with railway warrants,
equipment, industrial trainees, etc
etc., were dealt with. «
. Six applications for land under,
the Soldiers' Land Settlement
Scheme were received and the neces
sary action taken and recommenda
tions made.
