BIBLE CHRISTIAN CON
FERENCE.

The following resolutions on the question of
Methodist union were unanimously adopted
by the Bible Christian Conference on Thurs
day morning:—
1. Thst we are oonvinoed from the returns of our
quarterly and district meetiDgB there i6a vory general
desire tor organic Methodist union among our people
in the colony.
2. That through long familiarity with our polity,
which has served the denomination well, induces the
cesire to see certain modiBcitiona made in the basis.
As no district meeting requested the Conference to
adopt the am. mi®en 13 suggested by some of the
quaiterly meetinga we express general approval of the
tsais as a fair compromise between the three Metho
dist churches io the colony.
3. That the following he appointed a committee to
continue tbe negotiations with like committees of
other Methodist Churches, viz :—The president,
secretary, and ex-president ol the Conference, Revs.
T. McNeil, J. Tnorno, W. F. James, and Messrs. J.
Ashton, J.P., B. Gould, Mr. G. Torr, LL.B., J. Thome
Martin, R. O. Evans, and A. Edwards.
4. That we cordially approve the suggestion of the
joint committee in reference to the holding an Aus
tralasian Metbodiat Convention, chiefly to consider
a general basis for Australasian Methodism, at i>n
early date, and hereby empower our union committee
to make the beet arrangements they oan for repre
senting the body _at suoh a convention if it he agreed
upon.
