THE SHAREBROKERS AND THE J
PUBLIC.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir-I did not intend writing further on the \
above subject, but I think Mr, JBellingham's i
letter requires an answer. Mr, Bellingham J
knows very well that tL.-; publication in the :
newspapers of the daily sales is very little pro- j
tcction to the public, as the fluctuations in j
pi fce.3 at all times are very great. Take for
instance B,H. Souths (pro.) in your columns of '
to-diij. They are quoted at £7 17s. 6d,, £7 j
10s,, £7 lis. Hew is an intending purchaser ;
or seller to know the price actually paid or ;
obtained ? I cannot eee why there should ba :
ary objection to allow tbe public to inspect the
official register of sales or an ofiicial copy of ;
it, if all is so fair ar.d above board as Mr. .
Ijfllin^ham wants us to believe, and which I I
know is not the case. A small charge might
j be iLade for inspecting the register.
