THE want of a Church for the district of East Ade- ;
liide having been long felt, the Trustees of
Pulteney-street School offered to appropriate the mo;ety ,
of Acre 228 as a site for the required Church, on con- !
dition that a portion of the building should be erected )
wuh'n twelve mouths. This offer, after being privately :
submitted to the Members of the Church of England !
resident in the district, was formally accepted by a j
Public Meeting held in Pulteney-street Schoolroom, on ;
Tuesday the 8th January, 1856. It was further re- j
solved to commence the erection of the Church (to be I
called St. Paul's Church) so soon as £1000 should be j
subscribed; and a Committee was organised for the j
purpose of collecting fun Is, and taking all other J
requi-ite steps fw the furtherance of the undertaking, j
As it is very desirable that the works should be in j
progress before the wet season commences, it is ear. J
neatly requested that friends intending to aid this good j
work, should send in their names to the Treasurer or J
Secretary as soon as possible. j
