FIGHTING IN
KIANGSI
Chinese Gains
NEW YORK, July 28 (A.A.P.).
The Chungking High Command an
nounces continued fighting in the
eastern Klangsl province, where the
Chinese are . endeavoring to' expand
their hold on the sections of the Che-
kiang-Kiangsi railway, which were
recently recaptured. Fighting is pro
ceeding to the south of-.Yingtan.
Chinese pressure is increasing at
Kweiki, and there has also been a
successful Chinese attack to. the
north-east of Shangjao.
The Chungking correspondent) of
the Associated Press of America states
that the first air alarm for eleven
months was given yesterday. United
States planes drove off the enemy.
The Japanese failed to reach the
city.

says Japanese planes bombed Chung
king for the first time this year.
Bombs fell at suburban points at 8.30
