"Light, more light." they cry; "Show us the way." '
Each moment seems an hour, each day a. year, ,
Frustration winds its thongs about their feet
And one looks on the other
Not as his; brother-
But as some despot whom -he . hiust unseat.

"Cduld ye not watch with Me ?"
Out of the shrouded years'
The sad rebuke that woke to life the ears "
Of drowsing followers of the Son of Man
Sounds .like a trumpet in this latter day.
And comes the cry: "Why will ye die ?
Wake from your trance. Cast off your crippling cords.-
The earth and all its treasures is the Lord's,
Not yours, except in trust.
Cease, your destroying; plant and'sow and build.
Let no corroding rust' >
Of bitterness, of hate and hard suspicion . , -
Foul the bright metal of the circling chain
That binds you all as one
Under God's sun.
