V.B.A. Veterans' Pairs.
Mendoza-Pyman's Second Win.
A quilo Informal gatherlnre of enthusiasts at
tended tho Brunswick nrcon yesterday to wit
ness the closing stages ot the V.B.A. veterans'
pairs tournament. Tho association was well
represented by Mr. H. H. Olney, M.L.C., vJcc-
prcslilcnt; Mr. J. B. Grut, past president, and
Mcscra. A. Th.tckwray nd C. Llvccey, match
committee Conditions, except lor a rather
pcrvcrco wind, were ideal. Curator Davis's
green being: finely prepared. The Brunswick
club provided afternoon ten. and the proceed
ings. as befitted the occasion, were as much
social as competitive. These veteran bovlorn—
they are nil over 0B — run true to frwn, for
nearly all the contestants yesterday have
figured prominently In past finals of the old
una events. The winners. Mcnrioza and Py-
man, won this tournament In 1931-32; Ben
nett. skipper of the pair that came' aecond,
has won one, nnd finished in a place twice in
tho veterans' champion singles, while Taylor,
skipper ol is. badge pair, wns runner up to
Burgess recontly tor the came title. Yester

fluctuated eomewhat until toward tho close,

man put in their run with scores of 2. 3. 2.

In a good-spirited game.
Mr. Olney congratulated the winners nnd
runners up on their excellent showing. He was
pleased to t:ce that these veterans matches
were prowlnre in popularity, and. turning to
more Immediate matters, especially in regard
to the Brunswick club and green, said there
was "something good In the north." Mr.
Gmt, who supplemented the vice-president's
remark'.', commented on the fine work done
by the Brunswick club tn Improving Its green
nnd accommodation, the social hall being an
admirable result of co-operative effort. Tho
prize winners duly responded.
