EXPANSION
Example of Britain
MOSCOW, Feb. 24. (A.A.P.)
The mass building of war ships by
the Soviet Is predicted by thie Com
missar of- Marine (Admiral Kusnetzov).
In Rn article in "Pravda" on the 23rd
anniversary of the Red Navy, Admiral
Kusnetzov used references to the suc-
cesses of tne British troops in Africa
and the Greek troops in Albania — due,
he said, to the ability of the British
fleet to guarantee the transport oi
troops and munitions— to emphasise
the importance of sea power. The
Soviet, ne added, was speeding up
naval expansion by mass building and
the power and speed of the new ships
would demand a more Intensive train
ing for officers and crews. For this
reason a five-year period of naval ser
vice had been, introduced.
The Deputy Commissar (Admiral
Isakov) disclosed that the Soviet had
established a Danube naval flotilla
which was- the latest development oi
