BUNOAREESHIRE COUNCIL.
Monday, 2nd May.
Present—Cr Wade (presiding), and Crs
Clohesy, Lord, George, Divis, Neville, and
O'Day. An apology was received from Cr
Anderson.
Correspondence.—From John Maher, re
questing that contract 281 for work on the
Springs - road be transferred to Sydney
Peterkin, and from the latter, agreeing to ac
cept the contract.—Request complied with.
From secretary Public Health Department,;
stating that the Shire of Bungaree has, under
the provisions of section 123, Act 1098, been
declared affected by typhoid fever.—Re
ceived. From secretary Ballarat District
Benevolent Asylum, asking fnr signature to
acompanying form for the admission of an
old resident of the shire to the asylum.—The
secretary was instructed to attend to the
matter. From Secretary for Linds, asking
whether the council had any objection to
the sale ,of a piece of, land in.- the
township of Nerrins, parish of B illarat.—
The council objeoted to .the sale of-the land,
as applied for, but Would be agreeable to
allowing- a small piece being -disposed.' of.
From Government'-'Statist/ stating that the
schedules collected in the municipality have
been accepted, and that the bonus allowed by
the Government would be paid, according to
enclosed scale.—Received. From C. J.
Morris, hnn. secretary Little Bendigo Cricket
Club and 19 ratepayers, objecting to the sale
of a piece of land known as the Little
Bendigo ' cricket-ground, situate to the
north of Mr Man’s property, as
they wished the reserve to be kept
for recreation purposes.—Received. From
Secretary for Agriculture, stating that
in pursuance of the provisions contained in
an Act to amend the law relating to thistles,
that the plant named “Inula graveoleus,”
commonly known as “ stinkwort,” was with
in the meaning of the Thistles Act, 1890.

Engineer’s Report.—Mr Acton reported
that the estimated cost nf constructing the
portion of road from State school to Mit
chell's was £3O, and that'of reconstructing
5J chains on the Slatey Creek mad at J.
Griffin’s was £l6. He recommended that
gravel be procured for footpaths in Ballarat
North. About 130 load* would be required.
The drain through P, Frawley’s property,
which had been originally constructed by
the owner, who received a subsidy from the
council, h»s now proved inadequate to con
vey the water, and required deepening and
widening. The cost would be between £5
and £6. —The report was adopted.
Treasurer’s Report,—The treasurer re
ported receipts from all sources for the past
four weeks to have been £1193 14* 2d. The
disbursements for the same period totalled
£654 8i 7d.
Rate Statement.—This showed that of
the 1891 rate £529 lOi 6d had been col
collected; of the 1890 rate, £1952 3s 9d; of
the 1889 rate, £2520 10- 6i; of the 1888 rate.
£2662 3s 6d; of the 1887 rate, £2691 os 6d;
of the 1886 rate, £2707 ss. The amount
outstanding of the 1885 rate was £2O, and
the three previous years £l3l Is. 6d.
Finance. —The following accounts, amount
ing to £577 15 s lOd, were passed for pay

contract 611, J- Bohan, at per yard. It
was decided to call fresh tenders for contracts
290 and 607.
The council then adjourned.
