with the opposition to the proposed trout
licence. Many speakers condemned the
proposal to institute a tax, as it was con
sidered to be purely a class tax, and an
attempt to filch the liberties of the people.
A resolution was ateo unanimously adopted
protesting against the institution of the
proposed rod and gun licences, as they
were believed not to be in tho best in
terests of the community. Office bearers
elected wore: — President, Mr. T, Powell;
vice-presidents, Mosrs. J. Anderson and
J. IF. Pearson; secretary, Mr. A C.
