BREACH OF THE LICENSING LAW.
At" the Fitzroy court yesterday, Nina Green,
lioensee of the Latrobe Hotel, Fitzroy-street,
was charged with trafficking in liquor at a pro
hibited hour. Evidence was given by Sonior
Constable Cahillfand CoDetable Hutohinson to
prove that tbey saw a women leave the hotel at
1.50 on Sunday morning, 7th inst., with two
licensee's husband, and he asserted that the
liquor had been purchased at 8 o'clock on the
Saturday night. Tho person referred to, Nelly
'Thompson, gave evideuoo to support this. She
said she had been delayed longer than bIio
expeoted, but called at the hour mentioned for
her purchase and got it. Mr. Gillott, for tho
defence, contended that it wae the duty of Mr.
Green to hand over tho liquor when its owner
called for it. There was no trafficking than. Tho
benoh took some timo to arrive at a deoiaion,
and ultimately announced that if auch a plea
were countenanced hotels might bo open evory
Sunday for the delivery of liquor paid for on
Saturday night. They imposed a fine of £2.
