WAS THE POLL VALID?
Land Values Assessment
at Thebarton.
At the Adelaide Police Court on Friday
afternoon (before Mr. J. Gordon, S.M.)
the case was continued in which
Henry Thomas Melville, of Adelaide,
surveyor, a citizen of tie Municipality of
Thebarton, bad laid an information against
the corporation for having declared an assessment
under the provisions of the
Land Value Assessment Act of 1893. It
was contended by the informant that the
poll by which the ratepayers authorized the
change was not taken in accordance with
or as required by the provisions of the
Municipal Corporations Act of 1890 and
the Land Value Assessment Act itself.'
Mr. E. B. Grundy, K.C.. with Mr. C.
W. Havward. anneared for the informant
and Mr. Paris Nesbit, K.C.. with Mr. F
V. Smith, for the corporation.
Mr. Nesbit continued his argument.
