Trial Wanted in New South Wales
In a report recently laid on the .table
of the New South Wales Legislative As
sembly. Br. M. Mclntyre Sinclair recom
mends tlio conditional use of Spahlinger
scrum; He said it seemed that after the
failure of so many negotiations it was
fair to ask Spahlinger to indicate exactly
what reasonable proposals were acceptable
to him which would not be inconsistent-
with the principles of ordinary business
prudence. The British Government's offer,
to test out the serum under its auspices
in London still stood good, provided
Spahlinger submitted the remedy for an
extensive trial. The test would be in a
sufficiently large number of selected cases
to eliminate what was known as the
"statistical error," and it would be ac
cepted as conclusive. If Spahlinger could
not produce the material necessary owing
to shortage of funds he thought it would
be fair to go a step further and give him
the financial assistance necessary to pro
duce the required quantity of serum. If
the Government of New South Wales saw
its way to offer tha British Government-
a proportion of that grant, it would be a
fair proposal, and in view of its doing so
might fairly claim in return that a first
proportion of any serum released should
be apportioned to the Government of New
South Wales. . If the proposed tests under
the auspices of the Britisli Government
resulted in a favorable verdict for the
serum, then the world would not be found
wanting in its tribute to the genius of
Spahlinger.
