STOCKS AND SHARES
About £3000 of 3 per cent. Treasury
bonds maturing 1930 were absorbed yes
terday at the improved figure of £S2, addi
tional debentures being afterwards avail
able for a similar figure. Victoria 3 per
cent, securities redeemable 1932 realised
£01 10/, while Metropolitan 4's falling due
1913 bad demand at £100 2/6. Values for
Commercial, preference, bank of issue,
hardened round about £5 12/; National,
ordinary, brought £4 19/; and Royal Bank,
scrip was . disposed of at 24/6. Rubber
manufacturing interests continued . to lie
well supported, Dunlop, ordinary, being
worth ubout 26/0, and Dunlop, preference,
being wanted at 32/3; while a buyer of
Barnet Glass) "A" preference, bid 23/.
Swallow and Ariel I provided turnover at
20/4, and upwards of 25/6 would have
been given tor Wundorlieh, ordinary. Port
Swettenham Rubber Plantation shares
steadied ifter easing to 23/9. Broken Hill
Globe Timber Mills bad oilers of 2i/, and
buyers of Kauri Timber, paid, bid 38/.
Melbourne Tramway firmed to 41/, and
Silverton Tramway realised the enhanced
figure of £5 6/6. The receipts of the- Emu
Boy Railway during January amounted to
£5447, as compured with £5179 for Janu
ary, 1912.
Owing to the material increase in its
January output the Zinc Corporation
brought down its working costs to 17/3
per ton of ore, und 9/ per ton of residues
treated. The Junction North- production
for last week was above that for the pre
vious milling period, and the company's
scrip provided free turnover at 13/2 and
13/3. British Broken llill eased to 45/6,
but Proprietary stock was in better favor,
with .exchange at 42/.

lagoe company upon (ints which will give up
to £180,060 of now capital with which to
open up the Mount Mulligan coal field, aiul
citable the infusion of additional vigor in

had quittance at 62/0,

worth about 67/ in this market. Upwards

turnover took place in Golden Age for 8/8.
North .Nuggety Ajax strengthened after
business' at 19/, and Ajax Central found
support for 28/ in a nominal change. Bull
finch Proprietary, W.A., closed quietly at
round a-bout 16/, hut more animation was
infused' into the luurkct for Edna May
shares, values lor which varied between
29/9 and 30/0 upon a report from the
manager that iu stripping the reef along
the eastern' wall at a distance of 225 feet
from the boundary the lode is splitting up
into veins. The formation here is 10 feet
wide, .but the gold values in the ore in the
faeei are low, About 100 tons of quartz
has been raised from stripping.
A further reduction in the height of the
water m the old shafts at the New -Langi
Logan mine is reported, the level having
fallen 3 feet during tile last week. The
erection of the puddlers is Hearing eoniplc-
turn.. -New Langi Logan provided turnover
between 24/ and 23/7; but Catheart, con
tributing, declined to 10/10 before steady
ing. Catheart Central hardened at 57/3
upon the announcement of a return of
