FIRE AT CHEWTON
A SERIOUS LOSS.
A disastrous fire took place at Mr
J. O. Archbold's premises at Chew
ton at 6 o'clock on Saturday morn
ing, resulting in the total destruction
of stables, buggy shed and other
sheds with their contents. A val
uable buggy horse was burnt to
death.
A buggy, spring cart, three sets of
harness, one saddle, 25 cases of acid,
10 cases of kerosene and 3000 bags
were consumed by the flames. The
sheds and contents were insured in
the London Assurance Co. for a total
of £165, but Mr Archbold estimates
his loss at between £300 and £400.
Deep sympathy is expressed on all
sides for Mr Archbold in his loss.
$
