AN INSANITARY CEMETERY.
SEYMOUR. Sunday.
Some two years ago the local cemetery
was condemned as insanitary, and the
Board of Public Health instructed the then
trustees to purchase a new site. As they
failed to obey the instructions they were
deposed, and a new set of trustees ap
pointed. They, however, have been unsuc
cessful, and the old cemetery is still being
used. It is situated at the top of Station-
street — the main business street — and al
most in the heart of the town. It has
been in existence for nearly half a century,
and is practically full. When sinking graves
the sexton has frequently come across de
cayed coffins and human remains. A pub
lic meeting was held on Friday night, when
it was resolved that a deputation wait upon
the local shire council at its next meeting
for the purpose of placing before councillors
the necessity of urging tne Board of Public
Health to p'urchase a new site without fur
ther delay -
