ELECTRIC LIGHTING AT
ST. HILDA.
At last night's meeting of tlio St. Kilda coun
cil, Or. Turner, M.L.A., drew attention to the
aation of tho Oily Oounoil of Melbourne in ex
tending the clootria light up to tlio St. Kilda
boundary on the St. Kilda-road. He thought
the presont a favorable opportunity to take the
initiative in the matter.
Ho moved—
That tlio town clork bo requested to write to tlio
city council, asking if they would ho prepared to
extend thootcctrie light to tlio junction, and, if so,
on what terms, and at what coat.
Cr. Stcdcfurd scoqudcd Mio motion, and after
dismission it war resolved to obtain an alterna
tive estimate of tho cosb of illuminating High-
Btrcet, Carlisle-Btreot, Fitrroy. atreet and tho
Hsplanadc, as well as St. Kilda-road, and Crs.
Moore, Jaooby and the mayor wero deputed to
intcrviow the Towu Clerk of Melbourne on tho
subjeot.
