UNIVERSITY PTJBIJO EXAMINATIONS.
SAUCHIE HOUSE SCHOOL, West Maitland, has,
for Four Years in succession, been the only
school in the Northern districts that has Passed Can-
didates for University Certificates. This year NOT
ONE OF MY CANDIDATES HAS FAILED, and of
nine competitors at Maitland, all the five that have
passed are or have been my pupils, two ob-
taining Junior Certificates, and three Civil Service
Certificates. In these four years my Candidates
have collectively passed in eight out of the ten sub-
jects of the Junior Examination, and one of them
in English, Mathematics, and General Proficiency of
the Senior Examination when under fifteen years of
age. Two others, that received the whole of their
education from me, passed when under fourteen, the
one for the Junior Examination, the other for the
Civil Service.
These Examinations are an impartial test of the
quality of the instruction which I give.

AUCTION NOTICE.
COLONIAL PRODUCE AGENCY, SYDNEÏt
ESTABLISHED 1854.
To the Farmers, Dealers, and Shippers of Produce
in üie Northern Districts.
170R a considerable time back large quantities of
. j'our Produce have been allowed to accumulate
on the Steam Companies' Wharves, at the sight of
which consumers have been deterred from buying
with that alacrity which would ensure -wholesome
competition. This has not been caused by an>- want
of energy on the part of your agents, but solely on
account of the system of selling. To obviate this I
purpose for the future SELLING ALL CONSIGN-
MENTS BÏ AUCTION, and to ensure success there
must be a regular and ample supply. For this pur-
pose I INTEND TO HOLD SALES EVERT MON-
DAY and THURSDAY, and therefore ask you to have
your shipments so arranged that they may be sold on
either of the above days.
At Auction all produce is sold for CASH, with the
great advantage of QÏICK: RETURNS and the HIGHEST
PRICE OF THE DAY. Already the auction system
has given universal satisfaction in the selling of
Wool, Tallow, Hides, Tin, Copper, &c. ; in fact a
wholesome and legitimate competition is obtained.
I may also state that since the railway has been
opened to the Agricultural Districts-South and
West-all the Produce has been sold by auction, and
as you are brought into competition with those dis-
tricts, you must be on the same footing, and not
allow your produce to accumulate to your disad-
vantage.
I rely upon my past experience, quick returns, and
your hearty co-operation, to make the auction selling
a success; and respectfully ask you for your con-
signments and patronage.
Tours faithfully,
ROBERT CAMPBELL.

The Purest Stimulant in the "World
THE Extraordinary Sale, wide-spread popularity
and wonderful results of WOLFE'S SCHNAPPS
prove indisputably that the introduction of a per-
fectly pure beverage is appreciated by the Australian
public
The medical profession being the most competent
in science, and responsible in society, of all others,
to form a correct judgment of the medicinal and
salutary properties of an article of this kind, would
not give their unsolicited testimonials m special com-
mendation of WOLFE'S AROMATIC SCHIEDAM
SCHNAPPS, were it a preparation of doubtful or
even ordinary quality, nor unless tbej' had proved
its superior excellence and value, m their own prac-
tice or experience.
As a substitute for every other alcoholic restorative,
not excepting the very best FRENCH BRANDY now
in use, none of which can compare with it in PURITY
or RENOVATING POWER, the proprietor has
boundless professional testimonj of its superiority,
and therefore strongly recommends it as a substitute
for such liquors m DOMESTIC and PRIVATE USE.
As a means of preventing the disagreeable and
often dangerous effects produced upon the stomach
and bowels by a change of water, or in the use of
water containing an infusion of decayed vegetable
matter, which so often produces that obstinate form
of FEVER AND AGUE which so frightfully under-
mines the constitution,
Wolfe's Aromatic Schiedam Schnapps
will be found absolutely infallible ; while in cases of
DROPSY, GRAVEL, OBSTRUCTIONS OF THE
KIDNETS, DISEASES OF THE BLADDER,
DYSPEPSIA, FLATULENCY OF AGE and of IN
FANCT, and GENERAL DEBILITY, it is recom-
mended most emphatically by the most distinguished
members of the Medical Profession.
The following reliable testimonials have been
offered by the Australian Press in recommendation
of
Wolfe's Aromatic Schiedam Schnapns.
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD.
" In these days, when alcoholic liquors are so
largelj consumed, and consumers are so much in
doubt whether their systems are not being gradually
impaired by adulteration, it is well that one at least
of the popular beverages of the period is reliable as
pure-that is WOLFE'S AROMATIC SCHIEDAM
SCHNAPPS. It is something to be assured bj phy-
sicians and other of the scientific cognoscenti that
we have m this article a genuine extract, which,
taken in moderate quantity and under ordinarily
healthy conditions of body, affords a beneficial
stimulus to the animal functions, and even if taken
in excels, leaves but a minimum of the inevitable
evils of abuse.
" If it is necessary in the interests of the public
to denounce the too common practice of manu-
facturing noxious compounds as wines and spirit»,
it seems only just to point to this meritorious ex-
ception.
TOWN AND COUNTRY JOURNAL.
" We have in these Schnapps a total absence of
fusil oil, which, combined with the great purity of
all ingredients whence it is extracted, accounts for
the unusually healthful and invigorating qualities
which have already rendered this latest addition to
the alcoholic list so justly celebrated."
BRISBANE COURIER,
"The genuine article can he recognised by ita
mild and pleasant flavor, and its creating none of
those disagreeable results that are apt to follow even
the moderate imbibition of ordinary gin, evidently
owing to the absence of fusil oil or noxious ingre-
dients. It can he depended upon as pure, whilst other
spirits procurable are generally adulterated. It may
not possess all the virtues claimed for it, but cer-
tainly it is an alcoholic stimulant better suited to
this climate than any other in use."
TESTIMONIALS:
The Resident Physician of the Sydney Infirmary
says-" I have no hesitation in stating that I con-
sider your Schnapps a most excellent stimulant and
diuretic.,
The Government Analytical Chemist, Melbourne, '
says-" As a sample of Hollands Gin I do not think
it can be surpassed. It may be recommended for
use in Hospitals and Private Practice as a good
aromatic stimulant."
The Honorary Medical Officers of the Hobart
Town Hospital "Are unanimously of opinion that
it is a very agreeable liquid, and no doubt of benefit
when administered in cases of disease requiring
stimulant."
Packed in Cases of 1 doz. Quarts or 2 dozen Pints
On sale by all Wine and Spirit Merchants, Hotel and
Storekeepers in the Colony.
CAUTION.
An injunction against the sale of a counterfeited
article has recently been granted in the Supreme
Court of New South Wales, under a penalty of
£30,000 ; and we are instructed, with a view to pro-
tect the public, to prosecute any one offering for
sale any imitation of tne genuine brand.
To avoid imposition we would suggest to the
public the advantage of purchasing unopened
bottles, packed in the original yellow wrappers with
our name printed thereon in red letters.
