Table tennis
sides' success
Victor Blue, Victor White, Eagles, and Lower Inman
were successful sides in the lates round of A grade Great
Southern table tennis matches last week.
Blue defeated Victor Red 15-13,
with their two youngest players, Mark
Davis and Tim Davis, winning their
three singles and doubles.
Murray Hutchinson, Peter Probert,
and Ann Johnson each won two
singles for Blue.
Best for Red were Gary Fountain
and Barry Armstrong, both
undefeated.
Jan Shanahan (Red) won a single
and her double but also came close to
winning her two other singles, going
down 20-22 in the deciding games
against both Ann Johnson and Tim
Davis.
Victor White had a comfortable 25
3 victory over Port Elliot.
White had a number of undefeated
players - Paul Shields, Mark Shields,
Trevor Holmes, Tony Sandeman,
Grant Roads, and Colleen Attrill.
Winning players for Port Elliot were
Julie Battersby, Lindy Pearce, and
Bob Battersby, each with one rubber.
In another decisive victory, Eagles
defeated Currency Creek 22-6.
Undefeated for Eagles were Garry
Orr, Allan Pearce, Karen Henderson,
and Marilyn Arnold while Currency
Creek's best was Rhonda Fergusson,
winning two rubbers.
Game of the night saw Paul Thorn
defeat Maurie Loveday 22-20, 20-22,
2117.
Lower Inman defeated Hindmarsh
Valley 18-10 in the remaining A grade
encounter.
Best for Hindmarsh Valley were
John Gay, Geoff Maslin, Margaret
Millard, and Neville Lienert with two
rubbers each while Lower Inman's
best were Dennis Kluske, Greg
Jaensch, and Janet Kluske, all with
four rubbers, and Malcolm Lintern
with three.
In the B grade, Eagles Gold, Lower
Inman, and Eagles Blue were suc
cessful sides.
Eagles Gold defeated Currency
Creek 17-11.
Eagles best were A. Dent
undefeated, and M. Moyle and H.
Builder, each with three rubbers.
Currency Creek's best were R.
Fergusson with three rubbers and R.
Burzacott with two.
Lower Inman defeated Hindmarsh
Valley 20-8.
Inman's best were Sandra Lewis,
undefeated, and Mat Jaensch, Col
leen Lintern, Wayne Kirk, and Trevor
Stringer with three rubbers each.
Hindmarsh Valley's best were A.
Balk and N. Mathew, who both won
three rubbers.
Eagles Blue defeated Inman Valley
19-9.
Undefeated for Ragles Blue were
M. Parker and D. King, with M
Henderson winning three rubbers,
while Inman Valley's best were T.
Jones and C. Jones, who each won
two singles, and P. Kay, with a single
and a double.
