KEEN DUEL LIKELY
Carlton at Fitzroy
FITZ ROY'S continued success is puzzling to some critics who
foil to understand how the ^ Mitoons have held their own
against bigger and heavier sides, The success is due to their
pace and splendid leading to position. Maher has been iu.
sttmaental in instilling something oi old Essendon stvle of
play of 1922-24 into the work ot the Maroons.
TflTZROY are very fast to the ball, and
they like to use every inch of ground
space. Thev will aim to keep the ball
flving about in the open spaces against
the big heavy Carlton side always with
view to moving goalwards.
The Blues can expect some trouble.
Richmond had to fight every inch of the
way to obtain victory and had Fitiroy
kicked straight the Tigers would not

and they are most anxious to have
the better of their neighbors on this
occasion.
If Fitzrov win they will move ahead
of the Blues, and should Footscra; manage
to defeat Geelong. then the Maroons
will be alone in second placc. If Fitzroy
lose and Footscray win they will drop
out of the four. Carlton's great advantage
lies in bigger and stronger ruckmcn
of the type who held Richmond
together in the" crisis with Fitiroy. The I
Maroons, however, defeated the Tigers in!
le air for three quarters. _ m !.
Much depends on the weather. Wot'
