DONS TO VISIT SOUTH
Collingwood Face Big Task at Carlton
IF the weather is at all favorable, one
of the best games for the season I
should be seen at South Melbourne,
where fleet-footed opponents will be
matched. South Melbourne arc anxious
tu maintain an unbeaten record, while I
Essendon are very hopeful of winning
a place in the four.
The teams pla.v a similal type of
game, with probably Essendon more
polished, but South a little more rug-
! ged and just as pacy.
i South's victories this season have
been gained at the expense of Mel-
I bourne, Carlton. Footscray and North
i Melbourne. In the game against Carli
ton tlicy were most impressive, but the:
i matches against Footscray and North
I revealed weaknesses that will have to
bt overcome before the Southerners |
] can be regarded as serious premier-
' ship contenders.

Probabiv North Melbourne's contribution
to (his season's football has
been most noteworthy of all teams.
Here we have the bottom team of last
stason, despised by practically everybody,
running Geclong to a hard finish,
narrowly missing a defeat of Es-
' sendon, overwhelming Fitiroy. and last
Saturday just going down to South. If
North con retain the present side, no
team can hope to have an easy path
with the courageous, hard-bumping
land skilful bunch who just lack a little

T-'-Ibournc's task of meeting North

one. The Red Legs obtained easy victories
last season. On June 8 at North j
