Social and Personal,
The president of St. Mary's Tennis
Club (Mr. J. Crofton Lee),
who is
also president of the Sale Tennis Assoc-'ation,
has availed of the courtesy
of the Marist Brothers in utilising the
college oval
for the laying out
of
twelve grass courts for the Christmas
tennis
tournaments.
The
use
of
grass courts has greatly increased the
popularity of the annual tournament.
Tennis enthusiasts from all over the
State have shown their appreciation
by entering for the competition."
Tiriagolong residents are gratified to
learn that Mr. J. Culhane
who ha',
many relatives in the district, has been
promoted to the rank of
superintendent
of police.
Mr. Culhane was fa
charge of
the police
depot
at
St.
Kilda.-
Beodigo
First Friday.
The usual First Friday devotions
will be given to-morrow. Masses will
be celebrated at St. Kilian's and the
Cathedral at 7 and 8 o'clock. Benediction
for the school children wiH
be given at a quarter to four in St.
Kilian's, and the devotion in honour
of the Sacred Heart will commence
at 7.30 p.m.
