The Amorican screw steamship Meteor, from Sin

hero for a fresh supply of cools, being bound for the
Pacific, probably Panama or San Francisco. Sho has
had extremely light winds all the way until the la-t
few days, which is the causo of b.or running
short of fuel. Tho Motoor is what may
be termed an extremo clipper, .having beon
built for the special purposo of capturing the
Alabama. Sho is fitted up with all tho latest modorn
improvomonts. Sho is pierced to carry twelv - guns,
namely, two large pivot guns amidRhips rn tho gun
deck, and .tho remainder 68 and 32 poundvr'. Wo
aro indebted to the courtesy of C'apt»in Watson

W3 extract tho following particulars of thevossel: —
Tho American steamer Met-or was built in Portf
inouth. N.H., in tho yoar 1S65, by Messrs Toby and
Tiitt'efiold, and was forraorly owned by Mr It. B.
Forbos and J. M. Forbo3 and Co . but now by Mr
Walsh. The Meteor (according to tho now Atnericin
measurement) is 1220 tons burthen,- but according
to tho old measurement would bo about 1600
tons. Hor length over all is 270 feet, breadth
34J feet, and d^pth of hold 24 foet. H-.r engines,
by Mossrs Homo, of Greenock, aro direct acting
inverted, two cylinders, eac'i 62J inch, 3 feet stroke

privateer, which rumor was entirely without
foundation. Tho case was bof 're tho district court
