CORRESPONDENCE
(WHY WOMEN SHOdJLD VOTE
LABOR. !
fro THE EDITOR.]
Sir, — In your correspondence column
in this morning's issue is a short letter
on the albove subject. The writer, Mrs
M'urpky, who is, or was, president of a
branch of ttie iiousewires' Imion, trie®
to make out a- good case for the return
of the present Labor Government be
cause of_the good things they have ac
complished. if 1 am not mistaken, 1
think Mjts Murphy was at Mr Lyons's
meeting on Monday evening last, and
heard the question put by 'Mr L. J.
Stevens in regard to the meat question,
aud heard Mr Lyons reply that the
problem was a question for the meat
producers, and had nothing to do with
the Government- The cattle were the
property , of farmers, and it was within
(their province to do as they liked wita
their own property, which, I think,
tuude it quite clear that the Govern
ment were quite^ satisfied that ' their
past experience in regard- to tlhe .wheat
deal : and mining proposition were not
a, : complete success.' ; Kbw l am ; going
to ask, Mrs Jlurphy ,if ^ she . candidly
thinks tliat the women of Tasmania
should vote Labor when Labor has
advanced the price of : rabbits 100. per
cent- per. pair this season, namely; from
6d- to Is per pair.— Yours, etc..,
