have a Post Office, etc., connected in anyway
with a general store. Of course, at one time
there was no help for this, but the time has
long since arrived for a separation.
A footrace between Wm. Apted and Thos.
Rainbow took place on Saturday ; distance,
200 yards j stake, £1 aside. Apted won as he
libfld.
Mr A. J. Joyce addressed not less than 100
electors in the Town Hall on Wednesday night.
He explained his political views in a very clear
manner. Several questions were asked, and
satisfactorily answered. It was proposed,
seconded, and parried,- that Mr A. J. Joyce is
a fit and proper person to represent this district
in the House of Assembly. A hearty vote of
thanks was passed to the chairman, Mr Thos.
Peters, and a very successful meeting termi
nated.
A Quadrille Club has been formed here,
Mr E. J. Tracey having taken an active part in
its formation.
The weather during the past week has been
splendid.
