Mrs. A. E. Ladyman.
Quite a gloom was cast over the
district when it became known that
Mrs. Gertrude Ladyman, wife of Mr.
A. E. Ladyman, of Cherry Tree
Pools, bad passed away suddenly and
unexpectedly at her home on Satur
day evening last.
Deceased's father carried on busi
ness as a jeweller at Holyoak, Liver
pool (England), and at one time
held the high office of Deputy Grand
Master in Freemasonry in that dis
trict. The late Mrs. Ladyman came
to Australia as Nurse Williams on
one of the Immigration ships, and
met Mr. A. E. Ladyman when visit
ing his father. They became attached
and were married, Mrs. Ladyman
playing her part in establishing and
building up the property at Cherry
Tree Pools.
A husband, three sons (John,
Douglas and Max) and an only
daughter, Doreen, are left to mourn
their sad loss.
Mrs. Ladyman was well known
throughout the district, her bright
disposition endearing her to a wide
circle of friends. Much sympathy is
felt for her bereaved family, to
whom she was deeply attached.
The funeral took place on Sunday
afternoon, the cortege moving to the
Katanning General Cemetery, where
the remains were laid to rest in the
Anglican portion. The last rites were
administered by the Rev. Canon W.
Watson.
The pall-bearers were Messrs. H.
Ryan, A. W. Partridge and C. S.
Jewell (brethren Kojonup Masonic
Lodge), L. F. Marshall, John Bark
is and F. A. Rogers (of the Katan
ning Masonic Lodge).
Mr. John Squiers, funeral director,
attended to the mortuary arrange
ments.
