OLD BURREN SHEARING.
John A. Kelly, of Wallabadah, jvrites
as follows: 'Being one of the shearers to
start shearing at Old Burren, Burren
Junction, on the 11th June, I might men
tion that the team that shore there at
that time were all paid off on the 4th
July owing to wet weather and flood
waters. If they are again shearing it is a
second shearing, and men knowing that
I had been there might think that I am
still there. I therefore desire to clear

myself.'

AN APPRECIATION.
Some five months ago I received an
injury t- my right eye whilst working in
Leeton Cannery, which ultimately led to
its removal. In the assessment of com
pensation there was a technical question
as to the condition of the eye before the
injury. I am grateful to Central Branch,
A.W.U., through its officials, Messrs.
George Buckland (Secretary) and J.
Jenkins (Mining Organiser), for the suc
cessful interest they displayed in this
matter, which benefited me to the extent
of nearly £100 in excess of the Insurance
Department's first offer.
Leeton. JACK O'SHANNESSY.
