MA81ON C HALL,
This evening a season of comedy will be
inaugurated at the Masonic Hall by Mr.
Alfred Cork.Woods with a specially selected
metropolitan company. The initial produc
tion will be a double bill, consisting of
"Dora " and "The Major"-the former by
Charles Reade, and the latter by Wilson
Penn. Mr. Cork- Woods has made
special arrangements for mounting the
comedies in exceptionally good style,
and numbers amongst his company
such popular favourite as Miss Austen
Eliot, Mr. Harry Hodson(late of the Paul
Jones Company), and Mr. A. G. Poulton,
well known hero in connection with the
Rignold troupe. Mr. Edmund Doggan has
also been engaged for the season. Mr. Cork.
Woods himself is favourably known in Now
castle, having appeared here in leading parts
with several well. known companies, and, as a
successful Newcastle native, should certainly
receive the hearty support of his many
friends and acquaintances. A number of
popular comedies will be produced in rapid
succession, end a prosperous season should
certainly be expeienced. Pooular prices
will prevail, and as a high-clas comedy
season is a rarity in Newcastle, to doubt a
warm patronage will be accorded.
