A DARING ROsBERY.
An impudent robbery was committed at
the Commercial Bank of Australia to-day.
A clerk named Haysom, in thle employ of a
broker named Proud, was paying in £22G00O
in notes to his employer's account just
before 3 o'cloch, which is the busiest part
of the day. He placed the notes before
him on the counter when a mnu alongside
him touched him on the shoulder and called
his attention to the fact that hlie had dropped
severalnotes on the floor, Hayson stooped
down to collect them, and whilst s englaged
the man seized the pile of notes on tihe
counter and quietly disappeared. IIaysom
was so dumbfounded fJr a moment that lihe
did not give the alarm, and the thief got
safely away. When Haysom camenO to ex.
amine the notes he picked up from the floor
he .found 'they did not belong to him. No
trace of the thief so far has been discovered.
He :was seen by no one, and the numbers of
the notes are not known.
