HORSEWHIPPING A CLERGY
MAN.
A DANCE hold at Webster City, Iowa,
brought down the censure of the Rev.
N. A. Forrest, in his sermon at the
Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church.
In his congregation were the Misses
Lillie Barstow and Mary Cunningham,
both of whom were present at the
dsance. They left the church, and,
going to their homes, each seeured a
whip, and returning met the minister
as he was leaving the church, and
gave him a severe whipping. He
attempted to explain to them, but
they would not listen to him. Several
large welt were raised on his face.
He was prostrated in the evening, and
unable to hold service. The young
women are the daughters of promi
nent farmers, and well thought of in
the community. Sympathy, we are
told, is mainly on their aide.
