Sydney Harbour Bridge
POLICE URGE NEW METHOD
SYDNEY, Weduesday.
The Police Acsociation has decided to
urge the Cominissioner (Mr. W. Childs)
to appoint a mobile slqund to attend to
trafflTic on the Sydney Harboor Bridge
The association contends that it is danger
ous for foot police to patrol the bridge.
A resolution has been adopted instruct
ilog thle Secretary (Ilr. Cosgrove) to make
prpresentations to tie Chief Secretary (Iir.
F. A. Chaffey) if the Coomminnioner does
not adopt the suggestion.

slid to-day that the figures solupplied himn
by his officers indicated that the average
was being mainutained. For the week ended
July II, 71.0g17 vehicles crossed the
bridge, aid for the week ended
Aulgust 13, the number was 71,8S4I. Mr.
Childs added that tratffic police were con
tinuously on duty on the bridge. The
men were specially selected because of
their knowledge of the tralfic laws and
their ability to deal in proper manner
with the public.
