WEEK-END ACCIDENTS
Colliding with a car at the of
bicycle, Walter Bewes, 22, of the Men’s
Hostel, Auckland-street, Newcastle, sustained
lacerations and abrasions to the
head, body and right elbow. He was
taken by Newcastle Ambulance to Newcastle
Hospital for treatment.
Thomas Davies, 24, of Hopetoun-street,
Kurri Kurri, was admitted to Newcastle
Hospital about midnight on Saturday, suffering
from probable fracture of the skull
and lacerated wounds to the head and
face. He was driving a car, which turned
off the road near Hexham Post-office, and
collided with an electric light pole. Newcastle
Ambulance handled the case.
Knocked off his push bicycle by some
horses on Saturday, Alan Reid, Teralba,
sustained wounds to the head and shoulder,
and slight concussion. Lake Macquarie
Ambulance took him to Wallsend
Hospital, where he was admitted.
When an adze he was using slipped on
Saturday, Athol Nelmes, 26, of Teralba,
sustained a severe incised wound to the
inside of the left leg. After four stitches
had been inserted, Lake Macquarie Ambulance
took him home.
Falling from a ladder at work yesterday,
David Triplett, 45, Lovell-street, Cardiff,
employed as a furnaceman at the Sulphide
Corporation’s Works, Cockle Creek, sustained
an incised wound in front of the
left knee. Lake Macquarie Ambulance
took him to a doctor’s surgery, where
four stitches were inserted.
