ALL TRANSPORT
SERVICES
NOW PROTECTED
SYDNIEY, Mlonday.-All transport
undertakings, including motor omni
buses and service cars, in New South
\Vales are now protected as a result
of an order made under National
Security (Manpower) Regulationa.
'This was announced to-night by the
Dsputy Directo;r-Genelral of Man
power (MIr. Bellemore). He said
the order applied also to establish
mcnts engaged in the service and
maintenance.
The effect of the order is that an
employer shall not terminate the
services of any employee, nor shall
an employee terminate his services
without the prior approval of a
National Service officer.
MIr. Bellemore said certain in
dividual transport undertakings had
previously been declared protected.
It had been found that a number
were changing hands. The effect of
the new order was to eliminate the
period when protection would not
legally apply.
The new order does not include
services conducted by the Depart
ment of Road Transport and Tramu
ways, which are already covered by
a previous regulation.
