Musical Background
Music makes a happy background for
"Make a Wish," starring Bobby Breen,
the boy soprano, which will begin a three
day season at Herbert's Theatres to-day.
The title is expressive of the common
attitude of people towards life and its
problems, the universal habit of hoping
for the future. Early in the story Breen
is seen enjoying a happy vacation at a
summer camp, where he becomes friendly
with a composer, Basil Rathbone. As he
has a beautiful young mother (Marion
Talley), the stage is conveniently set for
romance. The young star sings several
songs by the Viennese composer, Oscar
Straus, and Miss Talley, radio vocal star,
is also heard singing.
Gene Raymond and Harriet Hilliard
are the romantic leads in "The Life of
the Party." On Wednesday, the pro
gramme will include "The Emperor's
Candlesticks," with William Powell and
Luise Rainer, and Ralph Bellamy and
Betty Furness in "It Can't Last Forever."
