LINER DISABLED

STHREE .TUGS REQUIRED
(SPECIAL TO "THE NEWS")
LONDON, December 17.;
After a thrilling battle with gales, three,
Dutch tugs have brought the disabled liner
Jamaica Settler to Falmouth. .
A terrific sea like a tidal wave smashed
the.rudder of the steamer in inid-Atlantic,
and it drifted at the mercy of the storm
for a week.
Then a tug picked up an S.O.S. call and
took the liner in tow. The hawsers
parted and the tug ~was driven-to a dis
tance of 150 miles.
A second tug arrived after a voyage of
a fortnight. Again hawsers were- snapped
by successive hurricanes. .
A third tug dispatched towed the vessel
1,000 miles.
The Hons. _H Homburg (Attorney
General), J. Cowan (MRinister of Agri
culture), and G- . F. Jenkins (Commis
sioner of Crown Lands), who eiave been

on a visit of inspection to South-Eastern
areas, are expected to return to Adelaide
tomorrow.
