MISSING CHILD
UNDER HOUSE
Hope Almost Abandoned
MELBOURNE, Wednesday.--Early to-
day when all hope of finding Eileen
O'Donnel, aged eight, alive, had been
abandoned, she was found by her
uncle, Mr. Charles Evans.
She was lying in a huddled heap
underneath a corner of her home.
Though she had been missing since 7.30
p.m. on Monday, she was suffering only
from hunger.
She was still clad in her nightgown,
and had received warmth from the bot-
tom of the chimney, into which she had
pressed her body.
What forced the girl into hiding her-
self is not known, but it is believed
that she might have received a fright.
It is the second time within a week
that the child has been missing. On
the previous occasion she was found
at 7 a.m. sleeping under a hedge.
For two nights and a day, and also
since early today, practically the whole
of the male population of Buninyong
has been searching under police super-
vision in the thick bush country
around the town.
