Australian War Memorial
Voluntary Explainers
The Australian War Memorial assists its visitors to
understand the commemorative role of the Memorial
through its public programs. Applications are invited
from people with an interest in the Memorial and its
work to train as voluntary explainers.
Explainers work in the Memorial's Discovery Room,
providing visitors with information about the activities
in the room, involving them with 'hands on' exhibits
and assisting those wishing to research their relatives
and others who served in the first world war.
The Memorial's education staff train and supervise the
voluntary explainers. Initial training will begin in the
second week of November and is carried on out of
normal working hours to allow those undertaking full
time study or employment to participate. We are
especially interested in hearing from people who can
commit time over the 1992/93 summer holiday period.
